Those Embarrassing Moments |

Just a little story for you today... it happened
literally less than thirty minutes ago...
Sometimes it is not so easy to handle every
situation with "Pizzazz", and I, the queen of
Pizzazz have those embarrassing moments
too when the clumsy me shows up and the
poised "pizzazz-full" me takes a little
vacation.
I got woken up way too early this morning by
a phone call notifying me that I need to go
through immigration because we just entered
the US again. But they always call you at the
last minute so I drug myself out of bed, and
knew I had to be quick because the immigration
officials hate waiting.
So I washed my face, brushed my teeth, dabbed
on some face powder and lipstick, hopped into
a tracksuit and ran down to the back of the ship
where they needed to see me.
Half awake, but up out of bed now, Garin and
I decided might as well go and have breakfast.
We had our show two nights ago so now we are
"famous" on the ship - well, everyone knows
who we are...
So in the buffet line everyone wants to chat and
say hello, which is usually not a problem, but
this morning I was still trying to wake up. Anyway,
I just smiled and pretended to be wide awake,
but I could only hide my sleepy self for so long.
As I reached the end of the line - now with a full
tray of food... a la fresh fruit salad, boiled eggs and
a bowl of oatmeal, as I stepped out of line to go
to my table - I don't even know what happened -
my tray just dropped to the floor! All my food
spread out all over the floor and me, and of course
the noise of plates breaking now had the whole
rooms attention.
What do you do? I dropped down to my haunches
to start picking stuff up, well aware of the fact
that I have about 800 eyes on me - not quite as
glamorous as being on stage!
I was so embarrassed and for a moment I wished the
earth would open up and swallow me whole, but that
is when my well ingrained and rehearsed Pizzazz
Factor kicked in - thank goodness.
As a crew-member came over to help me clean up,
he assured me that he would take care of it and I
didn't need to worry. I stood up, turned to the crowd
and smiled. I shrugged my shoulders as if to say
sorry, flashed everyone a big smile and watched
as their horrified faces turned to smiles and even
laughter.
I went back to the end of the line and started over
again... to my surprise, everyone was so friendly
and let me go ahead of the line to get breakfast,
for the second time... haha!
and as I walked to my table with my newly filled
tray, everything in the room had returned to
normal as if nothing happened. All was forgiven!
See now, a few years ago I would've probably
been so embarrassed that I would've disappeared
to my room after that incident and I wouldn't
have wanted to leave my stateroom again until all
those passengers were gone never to be seen again.
But the confidence that the Pizzazz Factor gave
me, gave me the courage to make light of the
situation, and now - they will still remember me
as the glamorous performer, and not the girl that
dropped her whole tray full of food on the dining
room floor. http://pizzazzfactor.com
Remember that in those embarrassing moments
it always feels worse than it actually is. If you
can laugh at yourself, others will laugh with you,
and they will forget that you had a little slip-up,
they will remember how you redeemed yourself -
with grace and poise... true Pizzazz Style.
Don't let those embarrassing moments get the
better of you... pick yourself up, smile or even
laugh and move on with Pizzazz!
Kind regards
Vanessa Bader
P.S. People are more forgiving than you might
think, and if you can laugh about any give situation,
you can defuse huge amounts of embarrassment
with not too much trouble. Learn to make light of
your own shortcomings and draw attention to your
strengths - that is one of the many things that
the Pizzazz Factor teaches.
