I see those people every day... day after day on the treadmill with a magazine, just walking along and reading and then they wonder why they are not getting any results.
If you want to get the most out of your workout no matter what your preferred method of exercise is, then you need to be completely present. Yes, reading a book is a distraction from any tedious and cumbersome workout - but you are shutting your brain off so your muscles are not engaging fully and a lot of the time not at all.
Besides the fact that if you are able to read something while you are working out, that means you can not be working very hard at all... and if your workout is that boring then it is time to find something else to do that can replace your uneventful exercise routine. Because let's face it... how are you going to keep it up if it is that tedious?
Most people do not enjoy working out and I understand that, but reading a book for distraction is not the answer.
You will be able to cut your workout time in half if you work intelligently and if you are actually concentrating on what you are doing. If you concentrate on working the right muscles in the right way, you will immediately get double the benefit from whatever exercise you are doing.
Engage your mind
If walking is what you like to do... rather walk outside where you can breathe fresh air and take in the beauty of nature around you. Otherwise, why not find a workout that is fun to do and gives you the best results!
When I created the Hot Burning Body Workout, my main goal was to give you the most benefits in the shortest amount of time while having the most fun possible! I believe I succeeded!
Also - there is no way you can do this workout while reading a magazine. This workout requires for you to be present in body, mind and spirit. The advantage of that is that you get great results and your mind and body gets a chance to recharge. Time to forget about all your troubles and be fully engaged in what you are doing.
When doing the Hot Burning Body Workout it is all about YOU! This is your self-time where you get to strengthen your body-mind connections and you are being productive in creating a healthier, fitter body and a more relaxed and focused mind!
So stop doing those long, boring, mindless workouts that yield no visible results - not physically or mentally. Get the Hot Burning Body Workout and engage fully!
But regardless of what your choice of workout is - whether you are doing conventional cardio, or weight training or body weight exercises, put down the magazine or book and engage fully and you will experience greater results instantly!
Kind Regards

Relax to Stretch
Sunday, 17 February 2008
There are many different methods out there to increase flexibility. As a dancer I have been stretching all my life and I have been exposed to all the different ways to get more flexible.
Unfortunately I was never naturally flexible like a lot of dancers and gymnasts out there... some people are genetically more flexible than others, but in my quest to be a great dancer I discovered some of the secrets that helped me reached my goal.
Now, you might be thinking, well I am no athlete or dancer or gymnast, why would I be concerned with maintaining my flexibility? The answer is very simple - for all round better quality of life, youthfulness and energy!
In the Hot Burning Body Workout Series I make use mostly of active stretching techniques because that improves the balance between strength and flexibility. I have also included some static stretches that you can easily do reading or watching television or even during those pesky commercial breaks.
But no matter which technique you choose there are two very important and simple guidelines you need to follow when you stretch to get the most benefit.
How to attract the attention of someone you are interested in
Wednesday, 13 February 2008
Do you already have that special person in your life... the one person you want to share your love with now and forever?
Maybe you are still out there looking. What are the body language signals you can send out to attract the love of your dreams?
(These body language signals I am sharing with you are very helpful to attract someone new that you are interested in, but if you are already in a relationship, you can also use these signals to seduce a long-time love and put that spark back in your relationship...)
There are many little different things that can make all the difference when you are out and about on the town wanting to attract someone special. Even the way you sit and stand can affect the way you are being perceived. Do you tend to cluster together with your close friends when you are at a nightclub or cocktail party? You might cast fleeting glances in the direction of someone you are interested in, but why is he or she not getting the message?
If you are open to meeting someone of the opposite sex, then here are a few subtle body language signals you can use to make sure the message gets across that you are looking and available:
1) If you are standing at a bar for instance – keep your back to the bar. That way you are more approachable because you are projecting an ‘open’ image, an image that says “I am open to meeting new and interesting people.”
When you are facing the bar, you have your back to the world and no one is going to notice you there... you are almost ‘closing’ yourself off to everyone behind you.
2) It is fine to stand next to a friend, but keep your eyes towards the club or crowd. Once again, if you stand chatting to your friend and your eyes are only on him or her, you can’t possibly attract the attention of anyone else by making eye contact and you seem engulfed in your own world to others.
3) Not only do you want to keep your eyes towards the room but you also want to actually point your body towards the middle of the club or dance floor or where the ‘action’ is.
That way you are making yourself accessible to who ever is out there, and you can be in a prime spot to make sure you don’t miss anything or.... any one:) You want to make sure that when the ‘right one’ comes along, you are in their right line of sight...
4) You can also slowly move around the room. It is not always the best strategy to stand still in one spot. The energy of movement attracts more attention.
5) It is always a good thing to have a pleasant, happy expression on your face. That makes you more attractive and more approachable. People are attracted to other happy people. Speak in the direction of the crowd and it can never hurt to laugh a lot! If you are having a good time, then others know that they will be able to have a good time with you.
6) If there is a window in the room, it is a good idea to stand near the window. People naturally tend to look out windows and gravitate towards them. So if you want to make sure you get noticed, right near a window would be a prime spot.
7) One of the biggest keys in capturing anyone’s attention is eye contact. If you can establish eye contact with someone, you are already communicating on a more personal level and you let that person know that you are noticing him or her... and you know that they have noticed you. But make sure that when you establish eye contact that it is in fact with someone you find interesting because especially prolonged eye contact is a very clear signal of interest.
8) Once you have established eye contact for a couple of seconds, or maybe multiple times for even just a moment... if you want to signal that you are in fact very interested in meeting, you can look directly at that person’s lips. Looking directly at someone’s lips can be very seductive and a sure sign that you are interested in making their acquaintance on a more ‘intimate’ or ‘romantic’ level.
In any situation, your body language speak volumes, so if you want to make sure you are being noticed by the opposite sex, then allow your energy and enthusiasm to shine through the moment you walk in the room. Whether it is a nightclub, a restaurant, a cocktail party or a conference room, if there is someone there that you want to impress, then walk in with the right attitude – with Pizzazz, then you can be sure to make an eye-catching first impression from the word go.

Last night we went out to dinner with a friend and half way into our evening we launched into a very interesting conversation and it made me realize how often we define ourselves as people by our every action.
Our friend, Wade, who is a golf-pro was telling us about how so many golfers define themselves as human beings by the way they play golf. So much so that golf starts ruling their world and becomes the mode by which they measure their own self-worth.
Now, there is something wrong with this picture...
So you mean to say, that if he (the golfer) had a bad golf game, suddenly - in his mind - he is a disappointment as a father and an employee and a husband? Wade answered said: "Yes"
This made me think about how often we beat ourselves down when we do something "wrong" or not quite as well as we would've liked to. Right there and then you equate the person that you are with this one failure.
Vanessa, It is very important to remember that you are NOT your mistakes. That moment in time where you stumbled, or ate that slice of cake that you felt you shouldn't have, or you disappointed your boss or your partner - that is simply a moment in your life. It is a fleeting moment that passes and you can decide to make a different choice next time.
That moment in time, that one failure does not define who you are as a whole... as a person.
You need to be able to compartmentalize and you have to know that you can either learn from that experience or you need to discard it and move on... you have to know that you are much more than that one mistake or failure and that you can do better next time.
In the Pizzazz Factor I explain to you how important it is to maintain a positive self-image in order to live your life to your fullest potential, and this is really one key element in that quest. The quest to see your self in the best way possible.
We are so quick to limit ourselves by clinging on to those little mistakes we make in life, or those disappointments we experience or those failures we have.
Instead you should simply learn from those and keep in mind all the times you did succeed and you did impress.
Those are the moments you want to imprint into your consciousness. Why must we ponder so much on the negative.... every moment is a new one, where you can continue to improve and be better.
Don't let one bad golf game, or one piece of cake, or one bad performance, or one not so good report define who you are as a person.
Remember - YOU ARE NOT YOUR MISTAKES!
Kind regards
Vanessa Bader
P.S. In order to have that unmistakable poise and presence at all times, to be radiant and exude energy, you have to maintain a positive self-image. You need to believe in yourself as a person. So don't define yourself by those fleeting moments of weakness, but rather reinforce in your mind your moments of strength and success. That way you will maintain your Pizzazz Factor and constantly be in a mode of success!
Why you are Beautiful
Monday, 04 February 2008
Your beauty doesn't lay only in the way you dress and the way you wear your hair or how perfect your nose or your body is. Believe me, I love to dress up and to take care of my body - look the best I can... that is important, it projects self-respect and self-love.
But "the clothes do not make the man". You need to remember that you are attractive and charming because of your inner radiance.
The way you treat others and the joy you find in life - in the little things - that is what makes you shine.
The way you react towards others and towards life; that is what brings out the real beauty in you.
To give and to love unconditionally is to be beautiful.
To be helpful and gracious is to be beautiful
To find the joy in every days tasks and chores, that is what makes you beautiful...
Your smile that radiates from your heart and that projects true happiness, love and contentment - that is beautiful.
The way you "feel" about yourself is what projects to others - that is what they see - If you feel self-confident and you feel attractive, then you will be attractive
Self-respect and Self-confidence - that is what is beautiful about you.
The way you walk, talk and act speaks volumes about you as a person. If you walk with confidence, speak with conviction and feel confident in who you are as a person, then you will radiate, you will stand out in the crowd and make great first impressions.
The Pizzazz Factor shows you how to find your inner self-confidence, how to truly bring out your inner beauty by knowing how to make your confidence and radiance translate into your body language.
When your body language and posture is not congruent with the way you feel, you might not be projecting your own beauty as effectively as you could. But if you know how to use your body language, posture and facial expressions to project your magnetic presence, charisma and poise, then you have true Pizzazz!
When you look and feel secure and sure about the way you act - about the image you project to others... when you can stop worrying about how it is that others perceive you - then you can feel truly self-confident and find the joy in the small things in life.
That joy and carefree-ness... the self-confidence in who you are... that is why you are beautiful.
Vanessa demonstrating Tricep Extentions with Theraband
The focus in this exercise is strengthening the triceps. Nicely toned arms look long and lean and when this exercise is being done correctly, you will also improve your posture and muscle tone in your abdominals. This can be done with your theraband, a dumbell or wrist weight.
To Prepare
- Step with your right heel on the one end of the theraband.
- Lunge forward with the left leg.
- keep pushing the right heel into the floor.
- Take the other end of the theraband in your right hand.
The Exercise
- Reach tall through the crown of the head and pull in your abdominals.
- Get the right elbow next to your right ear as illustrated in he picture on the left.
- Make sure your upper arm and elbow stays close to your ear and very still.
- Bend the elbow as far as possible so the tricep is totally extended.
- Keep the back leg straight and the front leg slightly bent.
- Now keep the upper arm completely still while pushing the
hand towards the ceiling until your elbow is straighgt.
- Then slowly bend the elbow again back to the starting position.
- Do 3 sets of 10-15 repetitions with each arm
Remember to:
- Keep the abdominals tight to protect your lower back
- Keep the back of the neck long
- Keep the back leg straight and the back heel pushed into the floor.
- Breathe.
Why do so many people resort to plastic surgery, Botox and who knows what else these days?
As George Orwell said: "At 50 everyone has the face he deserves".
We all want to look our best and at some point in our lives we realize that we are developing all kinds of wrinkles and lines on our faces. The truth is that the 'face' you use most is the one you are going to get stuck with later in life.
By 'face' of course you know I mean - facial expression...
As you go through life, you have a choice which lines you are going to nurture and develop. Why not choose to make your wrinkles those adorable crow's-feet you get from laughing too much, in stead of those vertical hatchet lines in between your eyebrows or those deep lines on your forehead from too much frowning?
Make it your goal today and every day from now to use your friendly facial expressions, make those your habit.
All the constant scowling and frowning just makes you look old before your time and after some years, even when you are just relaxing - those are the expressions your facial features will display.
Not only that, but research has shown that by drawing your forehead into a sad expression, you can actually start to feel sad. So at the same time - a happy expression can actually make you feel happy. There is definitely a two way connection between your facial expressions and your emotions.
So why opt to feel sad or angry when you can consciously live a happier life by feeling good, and at the same time - age gracefully with your happy face on!
Your level of happiness, success in life and health is directly affected by the quality of your presence. When you live with vigor and you radiate a positive and magnetic presence, you feel younger and more energetic. People are attracted to energy - positive energy!
That is why, with the Pizzazz Factor I share with you very easy to implement principals that can help you cultivate this magnetic presence and charisma that will enhance your quality of life in every area.
When you look around and become aware of the people around you, and you observe each one with their own personal presence, It is funny how you'll notice that unfortunately the majority of people seem lack luster and bored with life.
It is up to you to spice up your life by cultivating skills that gives you energy and mental clarity.
Your presence, the way you carry and present yourself affects everything you do.
