Last week I gave you some great idea for snacks. It is great to have a healthy snack between meals two to three times a day, but by that I don't mean mindless eating...
Some people might confuse a healthy in-between meal snack with mindless snacking. An in-between meal snack is usually something healthy that you eat consciously and with the aim to keep your metabolism fired up.
Mindless snacking on the other hand is when your hand reaches for the potato chips, peanuts or buttery popcorn every 10 minutes or so... or maybe even a couple of scoops of ice cream as a late night snack. Now that will completely mess with your weight loss goals.
Avoid junk food
We don't want that!
So what can you do to curb that mindless eating? I have a few ideas for you...
Make a conscious decision not to ever eat standing up, or in the car. You want to be relaxed while you eat so your whole body and all your senses are aware that you are nourishing it. Every meal needs to be a mini event.
Don't ever skip a meal! You might think that you are saving yourself calories, but you will end up feeling so hungry that you'll wind up eating extra calories later to feel full.
Night time binging is usually as a result of boredom. Take up a hobby to keep your hands and mind busy - and watching TV is not going to do it... I find that my binging is the worst when I am sitting in front of the Tele - but maybe you can knit or Paint model airplanes or cars while you are relaxing in front of the TV.... just a thought...
It also helps to brush your teeth, nothing seems quite so tasty when you have toothpaste in your mouth. I also find that a cup of hot tea makes me feel satisfied - so I can forget about my so-called craving.
These are just some ideas on how to try and curb the mindless snacking...
Oh, and one last thing - you can't eat what isn't there, so when you go grocery shopping, avoid buying those decadent late night temptations.
In the Quick start guide that I provide for you when you start your Hot Burning Body workout, I guide you step by step through an easy to follow but very effective meal plan. Eating healthy will not be a riddle to you anymore!
No Mindless snacking, OK!

What is your body type?
Thursday, 22 May 2008
I want you to understand that it is very good to have a role model - maybe you have a picture of Brad Pitt or Brooke Burke up on your fridge. But no matter who's body you admire, you have to remember that you are unique. We are all different and your goal should be to get YOUR body to look the best that it possibly can.
Besides, let's get real - remember that the picture you cut from that magazine has more than likely been digitally enhanced... and chances are that the person who you have singled out as your "ultimate inspiration" might have even had some cosmetic surgery.
Now I am not trying to tell you that you can not have the body you want or a close to perfect body, because you absolutely can - but you need to have a realistic goal.
Have a realistic Body-Image, a realistic goal
First we have to familiarize ourselves with the different body types and you want to try and figure out which category you belong to. It is important to understand your shape and what you can expect from it.
The APPLE SHAPE:
The apple shape tends to store extra weight in his or her upper body. This fat usually gets stored around the belly area. It is important for Apples to be health conscious as fat stored in the upper body can lead to cardiac disease.
The PEAR SHAPE (that's me... mmm) :
Pears are mostly women. They tend to store any excess fat in the lower body: Hips, Thighs and Buttocks, and of course those good old saddle bags we hate so much. This type of fat is not as much of a health risk as abdominal fat but it is harder to lose.
The PROPORTIONATE SHAPE:
You are the lucky ones! Proportionates have fat cells distributed equally throughout their entire body. They gain weight everywhere, evenly distributed amongst all the different body parts. When they lose weight, it also comes off evenly.
With the proper diet and the correct exercises you can do a lot to alter your shape, but you must remember and understand that you can only win against genetics up to a certain point.
Once you understand this, you can let go of those unreachable goals and replace them with real ones.
With the Hot Burning Body System I give you all the tools you need to achieve your ultimate goal - the realistic goal that you have set for yourself. You can reach your ultimate potential with this system.
I give you a six day meal plan that you can use as a guideline to plan your meals in the future. The Hot Burning Body Workout is a compilation of the best of the best. I have compiled the best body weight exercises to give you the fastest and most effective results.
I have been engulfed in the fitness world ever since I can remember. I have taken my extensive knowledge of Dance, Pilates, Yoga, Weight training and Body Conditioning and advanced stretching techniques to bring you a workout that gets right to the nitty-gritty of it!

Know Your Destination
Thursday, 15 May 2008
When you start on your journey to becoming a healthier more striking you, you have to set goals for yourself and you want to make them as specific as possible.
When my clients start out with me I often find that most of them have a fair and realistic idea of where they are, but they don't really know where they are going.
It is very difficult to stay on course if you don't have a specific destination and I find this is why most people fail when it comes to weight loss and fitness. Purely because they don't have a specific goal - a specific destination.
It is not good enough to say you want to be healthy, or fit or skinny. How healthy do you want to be? How much weight do you want to lose and how much time to you need? Do you know when you would like to get there?
You have to assess and decide what would be a realistic goal for you. Do you want to run a marathon or are you happy to just be fit enough to play outside with the kids? Do you want to win a gold medal at the Olympics or do you want to be able to do 20 push-ups with no effort.
Do you have a wedding or reunion in a couple of months where you want to look you best or are you looking to make some long term changes in your life?
Do you need to lose 100 pounds or 10 pounds? We all have different needs and goals, depending on who you are and your own life style - you have to decide what your specific needs are and set your goals accordingly.
This is also why your journal can be a great help. Write down your goals in your journal and look at them often. Track your progress and see if you are staying on course.
This way, you cannot fail. If you have specific and realistic goals and you keep track of your progress, you will no doubt succeed. And remember, even if you might get off track, as long as you refer back to your goals it is easier to course correct and get back on track to reach your target. http://www.HotBurningBody.com
More on that next time!

The True Power of Synergy
Thursday, 15 May 2008
On this very hot, sunny day in Vegas, Michael, a very good friend of ours left the garage door open while he took the mail in to the kitchen.
He takes care of our home while we are gone...
As he was ready to leave, he noticed that a hummingbird flew into the garage and was now fluttering around in the building confused and scared. He knew that if he left it there it would surely die.
Hummingbird
The more he tried to get the little frightened bird outside to freedom and safety, the more frantic it would become and it kept flying into things - it was hurting itself.
After about 40 minutes of running after the little guy in the scorching heat, he decided to start talking to it. As he calmed down and gently started talking to the bird and assuring it that he only wanted to help, the little hummingbird finally settled on a crossbar inside the garage.
While still talking Michael got onto a little stool and held his finger out right below where the now exhausted bird was sitting.
To his surprise the hummingbird hopped right onto his hand and allowed him to very gently cup it in is hand. Absolutely exacerbated Michael walked the tiny little thing to safety outside. He slowly opened his hands and the little bird was just sitting there - Michael couldn't believe that it didn't just take off immediately, instead it waited for the word from him. "You're safe now little bird, go - fly off" And so it did.
This story moved me to tears when Michael told it to me. That little bird fully trusted him.
Just like that, everyone wants to be trusted, and want to be able to trust. People know and feel when you are being sincere - just like that hummingbird intuitively knew that it could trust Michael. It could sense his honesty and sincerity.
Put true feeling and emotion into every thing you do and say and people will absolutely respond positively to that. Just like that hummingbird they'll put their trust in you with the hope that you are being open, honest and sincere.
The Pizzazz Factor will show you how to effectively express yourself and your honest and sincere intentions through body language and dynamic and positive presence.
Kind Regards

Laugh at Yourself
Tuesday, 06 May 2008
So, this morning I woke up and was horrified when I quickly scanned through the email I sent you last night and I realized that I made a really stupid mistake!
I felt so silly... but truth be told that I am known to be a bit of a "blonde" sometimes... :)
At first I was distraught and immediately I was considering writing you an email to apologize for my grammatical and 'lapse of concentration' error... but then I immediately burst out laughing out loud when it dawned on me how funny the whole thing actually is... I hope some of you got a little chuckle out of it.
Yes, I have been to Greece a couple of times, but I played the part of 'Frenchie' in the musical GREASE! Sometimes it is glaringly obvious that my mind is in more than one place at a time. All I could do was laugh about it... out loud, a real belly laugh, what else is there to do?
Laugh at Yourself
Hey look, I know that was not exactly a serious or life altering mistake, but I think it is always important to maintain a healthy sense of humor about your own mistakes and shortcomings. I mean, stressing about doing something wrong or making a mistake is not going to change the fact that it is done.
So why get yourself in a 'tizzy" about it? No matter what it is... life has to go on. So laugh about it, get over it... and then find a way to correct it, or if it isn't something you can fix... look forward, move on, tomorrow is always a new day with new possibilities.
Learn from your mistakes... next time I'll read through my email one extra time and make sure I am completely in the moment while doing it so I don't make another error like that.
By being able to laugh at your own mistakes, you might even brighten up someone else's day...
There is nothing wrong with planning your day, or your week... as a matter of fact - I encourage you to do that because that way you are setting goals for yourself and having goals to achieve is always a good thing.
The only thing is, we so often tend to step in the trap of not living in the moment... being so focused on reaching that goal, getting to the next place... doing the next thing... worrying about what to do next, that we forget to appreciate the moment... the moment that is now.
But that is not the only distraction... we have many other distractions like the television, the newspaper... magazines... these distract us from stopping and smelling the roses.
I'll give you an example of what I mean...
I was in the gym tonight... and as I think I might have mentioned before, the gym is right in the front of the ship.... the view from there is spectacular... we are at sea so we are surrounded by the ocean.
But tonight I was in the gym at the right time to witness a most spectacular sunset. I couldn't help, I had to just stop what I was doing for a moment and watch the sun go down....
There were some clouds in the sky and the colors in the sky varied from deep reds and oranges to bright purples and soft pinks as the big red sun set on the horizon. The reflection on the water made a clear trail from where I was standing and the water was so calm it looked almost like I could walk on it and follow that trail all the way to the end of the earth.
I felt a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart.
This is the actual sunset...
I had my camera with me in the gym that day
But as I looked around me... every single other person in the gym had their eyes on a tele... even though all the treadmills and the ellipticals are facing the ocean, each of them had a screen obstructing their view and they were totally unaware of the beauty around them.
So we often go through our day and we miss the precious moments because we are too busy getting where we are going, or we are being distracted by the news media or our worries about yesterday or tomorrow.
In the Pizzazz Factor I encourage you to live in the moment and to let the beauty of life around you help you find your inner smile... that smile that makes you attractive and magnetic... that smile that makes you radiate from the inside out.
Take some time today, to smell the roses and live in the moment... and try every day from now on, to keep that in mind.... Life is much too short to let those special moments slip away unnoticed.
Kind regards
Vanessa Bader
P.S. I am lucky to be surrounded by the ocean and beautiful sunsets... but no matter where you are, if you take the time to look... you will see the beauty...Whether it be a precious flower, a bird in a tree, the sparkle in someone's eye or maybe some beautiful architecture... if you look, you will find the beauty there.
Your Very own Big Budget Movie...
Tuesday, 01 April 2008
Imagine yourself as a brilliant actor, and you have this once in a lifetime role to prepare for. Only thing is - the character you are going to be playing in this movie is YOU!
For this big budget movie you are playing the lead part of the most confident, most charismatic, suave, attractive and magnetic you!
How would you prepare to play this role?
How does any good actor prepare to play a specific character in a movie?
Of course every actor has his own process, but let's look at the basic steps...
First you would read the script and get an overall idea of the plot. Then you would study your character in depth. You would imagine how this character would walk, talk, sit and stand. You would imagine the kind of mannerisms and you would even imagine what kind of voice such a character would have.
Then you would start practicing these mannerisms and vocal tones, you would put yourself in that character's mindset and try to embody everything such a person would be so that you can start to feel what it feels like to be that person.
The more you walk, talk and act like that person, the more comfortable you will start feeling in that characters shoes so to speak. Eventually, you would become that character after some intensive rehearsal and repetition.
Now you are ready to play the part in this box office hit movie!
First you have to have a vision... you have to be able to imagine what the image is you want to project - in detail...
Your life is your very own big budget movie in which you play the lead character...
You need to start living that image and before you know it... that confident, charismatic and poised version of you, is second nature!
In the Pizzazz Factor I take you through the steps and I show you exactly how that improved version of you walks, talks and acts... it is much easier than you think. Once you master these principals of the Pizzazz Factor your self-confidence will sky-rocket so you can live your life to the fullest and you can be a "big-budget" success in everything that you do!
Kind regards
Vanessa Bader
P.S. Start thinking and imagining how you want your movie plot to go and what kind of character you want to play - and start living it today!

Today my dad said something to me that sparked a thought I want to share with you.
I was telling him how I have found this new role model and how I am working towards having a body just like hers. She is a fitness model and has a phenomenally hot, toned body. She is the new picture on my fridge.
Anyway, so my dad said to me: "but my darling, you shouldn't be competing." He was exactly right. But the thing is, I am not competing with her, I am simply using her as a role model, setting a goal for myself.
See, there is a difference. Firstly, I could never directly compete with this girl as she is probably at least 10 years younger than I am, and my body is different from hers... I will never look exactly as she does.
But what I can do, is strive towards being leaner and more toned like she is.
So this is my point. You are unique... you should never directly compare yourself to someone else and think that you can achieve exactly the same results. But what you can do, is use that person as a role model... as a way to set a goal for your self... someone that inspires you.
And this does not only go for weight loss or getting the body you want. This is true for most things in life. There are all kinds of very successful people in the world at all kinds of different skill sets... you might admire someone who is a very successful business leader or a top athlete.
What ever it is that you are interested in achieving, it is a great thing to find a role model - someone that inspires you and encourages you to be better.
Of course there are certain situations in life where we do compete... maybe in sport, or athletics, or chess or on the debate team... yes, we do engage in competition and we can strive towards being as good or better than someone else, but we can never aim to be exactly like someone else.
Because as much as I would like to have a body like this girl... our proportions are not the same, and we are not the same age and we do not have the same body types or even the same metabolisms.
But having her picture on my fridge or my desktop is what inspires me to go to the gym and work even so much harder and eat so much healthier.
So yes... there is a big difference between competing and setting goals... finding a role model and striving to be more like that person.
So don't feel like you should directly compare yourself to anyone... but rather find that person that inspires you to set a higher goal for yourself and gives you the drive to reach it! Someone who encourages you to reach for more...
Kind Regards
Vanessa Bader
